Six advanced welding processes

1. Laser welding

Laser welding: laser radiation heating to be machined surface, surface heat diffusion through heat conduction, by controlling laser pulse width, energy, peak power and repetition frequency and other laser parameters, so that the workpiece melting, forming a specific molten pool.

Laser welding can be realized by continuous or pulsed laser beam. The principle of laser welding can be divided into heat conduction welding and laser deep fusion welding. When the power density is less than 10-10 W/cm, it is heat conduction welding, and the welding depth and welding speed are slow. When the power density is greater than 10~10 W/cm, the metal surface is concave into "holes" under the action of heat, forming deep fusion welding, which has the characteristics of fast welding speed and large ratio of depth to width.

Laser welding technology is widely applied in automobiles, ships, aircraft, high-speed rail and other high-precision manufacturing fields, bringing a significant improvement to people's quality of life, but also leading the home appliance industry into the seiko era.

Laser composite welding is the combination of laser beam welding and MIG welding technology, to obtain the best welding effect, fast and weld bridging ability, is the most advanced welding method at present.

The advantages of laser composite welding are: fast speed, small thermal deformation, small heat affected area, and ensure the metal structure and mechanical properties of the weld.

Laser composite welding is suitable for many other applications besides welding of automobile thin plate. Applications such as concrete pumps and mobile crane booms require the processing of high-strength steel, where traditional techniques often add to costs by requiring other auxiliary processes, such as preheating. 3. Friction stir welding

Friction stir welding uses friction heat and plastic deformation heat as welding heat sources. Friction stir welding welding process is made up of a cylinder or other shape (such as a threaded cylinder) mixing needle into the joint of the workpiece, through the high-speed rotation of the welding head, so that it and welding parts of the material friction, so that the temperature of the connecting part of the material softening.

In the process of friction stir welding, the workpiece should be rigidly fixed on the back pad, the welding head edge rotates at high speed, and the joint of the edge workpiece moves relative to the workpiece.

The protruding section of the welding head is inserted into the material for friction and stirring. The shoulder of the welding head is heated by friction with the surface of the workpiece, and is used to prevent the overflow of the plastic state material, and can play the role of removing the oxide film on the surface.

At the end of the friction stir weld, a keyhole is left at the end. Usually the keyhole can be removed or sealed by other welding methods.

Friction stir welding can realize welding between different materials, such as metal, ceramic, plastic and so on. Friction stir welding welding quality is high, not easy to produce defects, easy to realize mechanization, automation, stable quality, low cost and high efficiency.

4.  Electron beam welding

Electron beam welding is a method of welding by means of accelerated and focused electron beam bombarding welds in vacuum or non-vacuum with heat energy.

Electron beam welding is widely used in many industries such as aerospace, atomic energy, national defense and military industry, automobile and electrical and electrical instruments because of its advantages of no electrode, not easy oxidation, good process repeatability and small thermal deformation.

5.  Ultrasonic metal welding

Ultrasonic metal welding is a special method to connect the same metal or dissimilar metal by using the mechanical vibration energy of ultrasonic frequency. Metal in ultrasonic welding, neither transmission current to the workpiece, nor to the workpiece with high temperature heat source, just under static pressure, the frame vibration energy into the friction work, deformation energy and limited temperature rise. Metallurgical bonding between joints is a solid state welding without melting of the base metal.

Ultrasonic metal welding uses high frequency vibration wave to transfer to the metal surface to be welded. Under the condition of pressure, the two metal surfaces rub against each other to form fusion between molecular layers.

The advantages of ultrasonic metal welding are fast, energy saving, high fusion strength, good electrical conductivity, no spark, close to cold processing; The disadvantages are that the welding metal should not be too thick (generally less than or equal to 5mm), the welding spot should not be too large, and pressure is required.

6.  Flash butt welding

The principle of flash butt welding is to use butt welding machine to make metal contact at both ends, through low voltage strong current, until the metal is heated to a certain temperature becomes soft, axial pressure forging, butt welding joint.

The resistance is used to heat the weldment joint to make the contact point produce flash, melt the end metal of the weldment, and quickly apply the top force to complete the welding.

Reinforcement flash butt welding is the installation of two steel bars into a butt form, the use of welding current through the two steel bar contact point generated by the resistance of heat, so that the contact point metal melting, strong splash, flash, accompanied by pungent odor, release trace molecules, quickly apply the top forging force to complete a pressure welding method.
