Transmission shaft maintenance tips

In the daily maintenance, it is easy to ignore the maintenance of the drive shaft. So today we will give you a few words about the maintenance of the transmission shaft small knowledge.

The drive shaft assembly is located at the bottom of the car chassis and plays the role of power transmission. Because the drive shaft assembly is equipped with universal joint bearing, middle hanger bearing and spline expansion joint, in order to ensure the normal operation of the drive shaft assembly, it is recommended that the drive shaft assembly should be regularly maintained, maintenance and disassembly requirements are as follows:

1. Constant velocity universal joint assembly

1)Regularly add grease, highway vehicle generally adds grease once every 10000Km driving, dump vehicle and cement mixer vehicle generally adds grease once every 5000Km driving.

2)Grease brand is: special grease for the universal joint.

3)Grease filling method: grease is added to the grease nozzle of the universal joint until grease spills out of the bowl opening of one of the universal joint shafts.

4)Mining vehicle, engineering vehicle with poor road condition should reduce the time or mileage of grease filling.

2. Hanger bearing with intermediate hanger drive shaft

1)End tooth connection propeller shaft hanger adopts maintenance-free bearing without oiling;

2)To plane connected transmission shaft hanger bearing is required to add grease periodically, generally once every 10000Km driving. The brand number of grease is:2# automotive general lithium base grease.

3)Grease filling method: grease is added to the spline connecting plate grease nozzle until grease spills out of the hanger opening.

3. Drive shaft with spline expansion joint

1)Periodically add grease to spline, once for general road vehicle every 10000Km driving, once for dump vehicle and cement mixing every 5000Km driving.

2)Grease brand is: 2# automotive general lithium grease.

3)Grease filling method: add grease from the spline shaft casing nozzle until the casing oil seal part of grease overflow.

4)Mining vehicles and engineering vehicles with poor road conditions should shorten the time or mileage of grease filling.

4. Inspection items of first drive shaft (2000~5000 km)

1)Lubricate transmission shaft expansion sleeve and transmission shaft universal joint bearing

2)Check the drive shaft hanger bolts

3)Check the drive shaft coupling bolts

5. The drive shaft assembly should be assembled according to the following steps in disassembly and maintenance

1)With spline expansion joint drive shaft assembly, after disassembly to ensure that the drive shaft spline joint on the paint label arrow (or steel arrow) and spline hub on the paint label arrow (or steel arrow) corresponding to the load, and ensure that the two universal joint cross shaft axis coplanar.

2)When replacing the drive shaft assembly, the locking bolts (grade 10.9 qualified) and nuts (grade 10 qualified) shall all be replaced. The torque wrench is used to calibrate the tightening torque. If the drive shaft is connected with M14*1.5 bolts, the tightening torque of the bolts should be in the range of 260-280N.m. Bolt tightening torque is less than the specified value will cause the shaft bolt loosening, torque exceeding the difference will cause the bolt elongation failure, so that the bolt loosening or fracture.

3)When assembling the intermediate drive shaft assembly after disassembly, clean up the glue powder and oil stains on the surface of the connecting bolts, nuts and the intermediate spline joint threads, smear the thread anti-loose glue on the thread part and screw it into the lock, the locking torque is 500 ~ 600 N.m, and put it to 24 hours before it can be used. When the intermediate shaft is installed on the frame beam hanger plate, it should be ensured that the intermediate shaft hanger is perpendicular to the axis of the drive shaft.

4)When disassembling the middle support hanger, it should ensure that the rubber pad ring is located in the center of the U-shaped hanger and cannot be distorted, and ensure that the rubber pad ring is locked after being vertical to the axis of the assembly. The tightening torque of the bolts fastening the middle support is 120 ~ 160N.m.
